Memory Gel Implants
After many years of extensive testing and research, MENTOR® MemoryGel® Implants were approved in the United States in 2006, this being an important and huge advancement in the industry of plastic surgery and breast augmentation. Mentor currently has two types of MemoryGel® Breast Implants; smooth or textured surface.
There are a variety of profiles and a large range of implant sizes in which can be chosen to be a great fit depending on your body type. MENTOR® is currently the only breast implant manufacturer in the United Sates that makes silicone gel breast implants.
MENTOR® MemoryGel® Implants contain the latest and best silicone gel solution. These implants are pre-filled with Mentor’s own unique formula of highly cohesive silicone gel. Unlike saline filled implants, the gel that fills these implants is not liquid, but rather a thick gel that safely holds together and closely mimics natural breast tissue.
What happens if a MENTOR® MemoryGel® Implant Ruptures?
Safety of Memory Gel Implants
Silicone breast implants release a very minimal amount of silicone. This is significantly less than what a person would normally consume on a daily basis from products containing silicone such as hair products, skin care lotions and antiperspirants. The FDA presented results from their study showing that they have established numerous safety limits after testing various aspects of their silicone gel implants.
Ongoing Clinical Studies about Memory Gel Implants
MENTOR® is and will continue to conduct clinical studies to observe and examine the long-term effects and safety of both silicone gel implants (MemoryGel, MemoryShape). There are currently various ongoing studies working with Mentor’s breast implants. More than 200,000 women have willingly participated in our studies in order to provide an accurate source of evidence to demonstrate to the industry of plastic surgery the effectiveness and safety of our silicone gel breast implants. Mentor is committed to obtaining the most accurate studies and results about the safety of their breast implants so that women can make an informed decision that will result in beautiful breasts.
